Skipton Building Society Savings Rates 2026: Accounts & ISAs

Skipton Building Society savings rates in September 2026 range from flexible easy-access accounts to regular savers paying more than 5% AER and fixed bonds paying up to 4.76% AER in the range checked for this guide. The highest rate is not automatically the best account: withdrawal limits, monthly deposit caps, membership rules and tax treatment matter just as much.

This page separates Skipton’s current easy-access accounts, limited-access savers, regular savers, fixed-rate bonds, Cash ISAs, Lifetime ISA and Junior ISA so you can see what each rate actually requires before moving your money.

Rates can change quickly: variable accounts may be repriced and fixed products can be withdrawn without notice. Several fixed accounts currently shown by Skipton require payments and ISA transfer requests to arrive by 23 September 2026, so do not assume this product issue will remain available later in the month.

Editorial review: 18 September 2026. Rates below are a dated snapshot from Skipton’s current official pages, not a guarantee that the same issue or percentage will still be available when you apply.

Do not read the table as a ranking. A 5.75% Regular Saver only pays that rate on money gradually deposited within the monthly limit. A lower-rate account that accepts a large lump sum may earn more actual interest for someone who already has substantial savings.

Skipton Regular Saver Rates: 5.75% Member Rate vs 5.25%

Skipton’s Regular Saver range currently contains two particularly relevant adult accounts. Both rates track the Bank of England Bank Rate for 12 months rather than being fixed at today’s percentage.

Member Regular Saver

5.75% gross pa/AER variable

  • Tracks 2.00 percentage points above Bank Rate for 12 months.
  • Save up to £250 per calendar month.
  • You need continuous Skipton membership for at least 30 days.
  • You must not already hold another account from Skipton’s Regular Saver range.
  • No withdrawals during the term.
  • Early closure is allowed if you need the money.

Regular Saver

5.25% gross pa/AER variable

  • Tracks 1.50 percentage points above Bank Rate for 12 months.
  • Save up to £200 per calendar month.
  • Available without the 30-day member-exclusive qualification.
  • You can only have one Skipton Regular Saver range account in your name at one time.
  • No withdrawals during the term.
  • Early closure is allowed.
Why the percentages currently equal 5.75% and 5.25%: Bank Rate is 3.75% following the Bank of England decision published on 17 September 2026. The member account currently tracks 2.00 percentage points above Bank Rate and the standard Regular Saver tracks 1.50 points above it.

Skipton Easy-Access and Limited-Access Savings Rates

Skipton’s access accounts trade interest rate against withdrawal freedom. The Two Access Saver currently pays substantially more than the unrestricted Easy Access Saver, but it only permits two withdrawals during its 12-month term before further access requires closure.

Account
AER
Access
Useful check
Two Access Saver
3.90%
2 withdrawals
Good to examine if you expect only occasional access; a third withdrawal requires closure under the current terms.
Four Access Saver
3.65%
4 withdrawals
More withdrawal flexibility in exchange for a lower current rate.
Six Access Saver
3.30%
6 withdrawals
Useful to compare with full easy access if you expect several withdrawals but not constant use.
Easy Access Saver
2.05%
Withdrawals permitted
Designed for money where ready access is more important than maximising the current Skipton rate.
Emergency-fund check: do not place all accessible cash in a two-withdrawal account merely because its rate is higher. If an unexpected expense could cause repeated withdrawals, unrestricted savings can be easier to manage.

Skipton Fixed Rate Bonds: 1 Year to 5 Years

Skipton’s current fixed bonds guarantee the stated rate for the fixed term, but the trade-off is strict access. The Society says its normal fixed-rate bonds do not allow withdrawals or early closure during the term.

1 Year Fixed Rate Bond 4.00% gross pa/AER fixed.
18 Month Fixed Rate Bond 4.64% gross pa/AER fixed.
2 Year Fixed Rate Bond 4.30% gross pa/AER fixed.
3 Year Fixed Rate Bond 4.50% gross pa/AER fixed.
5 Year Fixed Rate Bond 4.76% gross pa/AER fixed.
Current funding deadline: Skipton’s live 2-, 3- and 5-year product pages checked for this article state that payments need to arrive by 23 September 2026. Products can also be withdrawn sooner, so confirm the date on the exact account you intend to open.
Interesting point: the current fixed range does not simply pay more for every extra year. The 18-month bond is currently 4.64%, while the 2-year rate is 4.30% and the 3-year rate is 4.50%. Compare the actual live term rather than assuming “longer means higher”.

Skipton Cash ISA Rates 2026: Flexible vs Limited Access

Skipton currently offers Cash ISAs with the same broad access ladder as its taxable access accounts. Interest is tax-free, but you still need to choose how much withdrawal flexibility you actually need.

Cash ISA
Rate
Access
Important point
Two Access Cash ISA Saver
3.90% tax-free/AER
2 withdrawals
Higher current rate in exchange for limiting normal withdrawals.
Four Access Cash ISA Saver
3.65% tax-free/AER
4 withdrawals
A middle ground between rate and access.
Six Access Cash ISA Saver
3.30% tax-free/AER
6 withdrawals
More permitted withdrawals but a lower current rate.
Cash ISA Saver
2.05% tax-free/AER
Flexible withdrawals
Skipton describes its Easy Access Cash ISAs as flexible, allowing qualifying replacement of withdrawn subscriptions within the same tax year.
Flexible ISA matters: Skipton says its Easy Access Cash ISAs are flexible. This can allow money withdrawn from that flexible ISA to be replaced within the same tax year without the replacement itself using additional annual ISA allowance, provided the relevant flexible-ISA rules are followed.

Skipton Fixed Rate Cash ISA Rates

Skipton’s current fixed Cash ISA range mirrors the rates on its current fixed bonds. The major difference is tax treatment and early-closure rules: fixed Cash ISAs can be closed early, but an interest penalty applies.

Fixed Cash ISA
Rate
Early-close penalty
Key rule
1 Year
4.00%
60 days’ interest
No partial withdrawals; full early closure is possible subject to penalty.
18 Month
4.64%
90 days’ interest
Fixed rate with ISA tax treatment.
2 Year
4.30%
180 days’ interest
Early closure can mean receiving back less than was originally deposited.
3 Year
4.50%
240 days’ interest
Transfers from other ISAs are allowed within the funding window.
5 Year
4.76%
365 days’ interest
Largest early-close interest penalty in the current range.
Fixed ISA is not the same as a no-access bond. Skipton permits full early closure of its current fixed Cash ISAs, but the penalty can be substantial and could mean receiving back less than you paid in. Partial withdrawals are not normally allowed.

Skipton Cash Lifetime ISA Rate and Government Bonus

Skipton’s Cash Lifetime ISA currently pays 2.05% tax-free/AER variable. The interest rate is only one part of the LISA calculation because eligible contributions can also receive a 25% government bonus.

Current interest rate 2.05% tax-free pa/AER variable.
Annual LISA contribution Up to £4,000 for the 2026/27 tax year.
Government bonus 25% of qualifying contributions, up to £1,000 per tax year.
Opening age Normally age 18 to 39 for a new Lifetime ISA.
First-home price limit Up to £450,000 under the current LISA first-home rules.
Other early withdrawals A government withdrawal charge of 25% normally applies unless an exception applies.
The 25% withdrawal charge is not simply giving back the government bonus. Because the charge is applied to the amount withdrawn after bonuses have been added, an unauthorised withdrawal can leave you with less than your original personal contribution.

Skipton Junior Cash ISA Rate 2026

Skipton’s Junior Cash ISA currently pays 3.80% tax-free/AER variable. The 2026/27 Junior ISA allowance is £9,000, and money in the account belongs to the child.

Rate 3.80% tax-free/AER variable.
2026/27 allowance £9,000 per child.
Minimum saving From £1.
Access Normal withdrawals are not permitted until the child reaches age 18.
Ownership matters: money paid into a Junior ISA belongs to the child. A parent or grandparent should not use a JISA for money they may later want to take back for another household purpose.

Skipton ISA Allowance for the 2026/27 Tax Year

For the tax year running from 6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027, the overall adult ISA subscription allowance remains £20,000. The Lifetime ISA limit is £4,000 and forms part of that overall £20,000 allowance.

£20,000 Overall adult ISA allowance for 2026/27.
£4,000 Lifetime ISA contribution limit, included within the £20,000 total.
£9,000 Junior ISA allowance for 2026/27.
5 April 2027 Last day to use the 2026/27 adult ISA allowance.
Unused ISA allowance does not normally roll forward into the next tax year. If you are planning a large Cash ISA subscription, check both the current-year allowance and the individual Skipton account’s funding deadline.

Important Cash ISA Change From 6 April 2027

The 2026/27 rules have not changed: the overall adult ISA allowance remains £20,000. However, a new Cash ISA limit takes effect from 6 April 2027.

If you are under 65

From 6 April 2027, annual subscriptions to Cash ISAs will be limited to £12,000 within the overall £20,000 ISA allowance.

If you are 65 or over

The annual Cash ISA subscription limit remains £20,000, subject to the new rules and overall ISA framework.

The overall ISA allowance remains £20,000. The change affects how much an under-65 saver can subscribe to Cash ISAs, rather than reducing the entire ISA allowance to £12,000.

Do not apply the £12,000 limit to the current 2026/27 tax year. It starts on 6 April 2027. For the tax year ending 5 April 2027, the current £20,000 overall ISA rules still apply.

Transferring an ISA to Skipton: Do Not Withdraw It Yourself

If you already hold an ISA elsewhere and want to move it to an eligible Skipton Cash ISA, use Skipton’s formal ISA transfer process. An ISA transfer is different from withdrawing money into a normal bank account and then trying to pay it back into an ISA.

Fixed ISA timing matters right now. The current fixed ISA issues checked for this article require payments or transfer requests by 23 September 2026. If transferring from another provider, read Skipton’s wording carefully because the existing ISA funds must be available for transfer within the required window.

How Much Skipton Savings Is Protected by FSCS?

Skipton states that eligible deposits are currently protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to £120,000 per eligible depositor, subject to FSCS rules.

£120,000 standard limit Applies to an eligible depositor’s combined eligible deposits with Skipton Building Society, not £120,000 for every account.
Multiple Skipton accounts Easy-access savings, bonds and eligible Cash ISA balances are considered together for the standard depositor limit.
Joint savings Protection is normally assessed by eligible depositor and ownership share, subject to FSCS rules.
Temporary high balances Additional protection can apply in specific qualifying circumstances; check the current FSCS rules directly.
Several accounts do not create several standard protection limits. If one person holds eligible savings across multiple Skipton products, add those eligible balances together when considering the standard FSCS limit.

How to Open a Skipton Savings Account

Application channels depend on the product. Many current Skipton savings accounts can be opened online, in the Skipton App, in branch, by phone or by post. Some specialist accounts have fewer options.

Choose the account according to access, not rate alone.
Check age and UK-residency eligibility.
Prepare an active email address where the product requires one.
Prepare identification if Skipton cannot verify you electronically.
For an ISA, have your National Insurance number available.
Check minimum and maximum balances.
For fixed products, note the final paying-in date.
Save the Summary Box and terms for the issue you actually open.

How to Compare Skipton Savings Rates Properly

Ask when you might need the money.
Check whether the rate is fixed or variable.
Check the monthly or lump-sum funding limit.
Count how many withdrawals you realistically expect.
Check whether interest is taxable or inside an ISA.
Check the fixed-term maturity date.
Read any early-closure interest penalty.
Check FSCS exposure across all Skipton deposits.
AER is useful for comparison, but it does not override account rules. A higher AER can be poor value for your circumstances if you repeatedly need access, cannot deposit enough to benefit from the rate or have to close a fixed ISA and lose substantial interest.

Common Skipton Savings Mistakes

Choosing 5.75% for a lump sum The Member Regular Saver has a monthly contribution cap, so it is not designed for depositing a large lump sum immediately.
Calling Two Access “easy access” You only receive two normal withdrawals during its 12-month term under the current conditions.
Locking emergency money for five years Skipton’s fixed bonds do not normally permit early withdrawal or closure.
Ignoring fixed ISA penalties The current five-year fixed Cash ISA has a 365-day interest penalty for early closure after the cancellation period.
Withdrawing an ISA to transfer it Use the official ISA transfer process when preserving the tax wrapper matters.
Using the 2027 £12,000 rule too early The reduced under-65 Cash ISA subscription limit begins on 6 April 2027, not during the current 2026/27 tax year.
