Coventry Building Society Savings Rates 2026: Accounts & ISAs

Coventry Building Society savings rates in 2026 range from straightforward easy-access accounts to regular savers, limited-access accounts, fixed-rate bonds and Cash ISAs. The headline percentage matters, but so do the monthly deposit cap, withdrawal charge, fixed maturity date and whether the account is tax-free.

This page compares the live Coventry savings range checked on 18 September 2026. It is designed to answer the practical question first: which Coventry account fits the way you actually plan to save and withdraw money?

Independent website and rate warning: Building-society.org is not Coventry Building Society. Savings products can be withdrawn, replaced by a new issue or have a variable rate changed. Always open the official Coventry product page immediately before applying or transferring money.

Rate snapshot reviewed 18 September 2026. Rates below are a dated editorial snapshot, not a promise of the rate that will be available later.

Coventry Savings Rates: Fast Answers

5.00% AER Sunny Day Saver (3), variable, up to £150 each calendar month.
4.25% AER First Home Saver (2), variable, up to £1,000 each calendar month.
4.20% AER Fixed Rate Saver (28), fixed until 30 November 2029.
4.25% tax-free 4 Access ISA – 1 Year, variable with four charge-free withdrawals.
4.20% tax-free Fixed Rate ISA (341), fixed until 31 December 2029.
£120,000 Current standard FSCS protection limit per eligible depositor with Coventry Building Society.
Highest rate does not automatically mean best account. The 5.00% Sunny Day Saver is a regular saver with a £150 monthly cap. It serves a very different purpose from a £1 million fixed-rate bond, a four-access Cash ISA or an emergency fund that needs unlimited withdrawals.

Which Coventry Savings Account Fits Your Actual Goal?

Comparing Coventry savings rates by percentage alone can point you towards the wrong product. Start with when and how you expect to put money in or take it out.

Monthly habit I want to save up to £150 each month

Sunny Day Saver (3) currently combines a 5.00% variable AER with charge-free withdrawals.

Check Sunny Day Saver
Larger monthly saving I can save up to £500 each month

Regular Saver (6) allows a larger monthly amount but currently pays 4.00% and charges 30 days’ interest when money is withdrawn.

Sunny Day Saver (3): Coventry’s 5.00% Regular Saver

Sunny Day Saver (3) currently has the highest headline rate among Coventry’s mainstream open savings examples in this review: 5.00% AER/gross variable. It is designed for monthly saving rather than placing a large lump sum into the account.

Rate 5.00% AER/gross p.a., variable.
Monthly limit Up to £150 each calendar month.
Minimum balance £1.
Access Withdraw at any time without an access charge.
Term 12 months from account opening.
Minimum age 18.

Taking money out does not restore that month’s paying-in allowance. If you have already paid the full monthly amount and later withdraw some of it, you cannot simply replace the withdrawn amount on top of the monthly maximum.

Prize-draw feature: Coventry currently enters qualifying Sunny Day Saver (3) accounts into 11 monthly prize draws when at least £10 is saved in the relevant month. Customers who qualify for all 11 monthly draws can also qualify for the additional prize draw, subject to the full competition terms.
At the end of 12 months: Coventry says the account moves to its Easy Access Saver (Maturity) if you take no action. The maturity account pays a lower rate than Sunny Day Saver (3), so check the new rate rather than leaving the balance untouched automatically.

Regular Saver (6) vs First Home Saver (2)

Regular Saver (6)

  • 4.00% AER/gross variable.
  • Save up to £500 each month.
  • 12-month account.
  • Minimum age currently 16.
  • Withdrawal or closure incurs 30 days’ interest on the amount withdrawn.
  • Useful for a structured one-year savings target.

First Home Saver (2)

  • 4.25% AER/gross variable.
  • Save up to £1,000 each calendar month.
  • Account lasts up to 36 months.
  • 60 days’ notice allows charge-free withdrawal.
  • Immediate withdrawal can incur a 60-day interest charge.
  • Coventry currently offers a £500 bonus if qualifying mortgage conditions are met.
The £500 first-home bonus is not simply extra savings interest. It depends on the published First Home Saver and Coventry mortgage conditions. Read the full account terms before treating the bonus as part of your expected return.

Easy Access Saver vs 5 Access Saver

This is one of the most useful Coventry comparisons. The 5 Access Saver currently pays substantially more than Easy Access Saver, but the higher rate comes with a withdrawal-count restriction.

Account
Rate
Access
Good fit when
Easy Access Saver (8)
2.00%
Unlimited charge-free withdrawals.
You genuinely expect to dip into the money frequently or need an unrestricted emergency fund.
5 Access Saver (5)
3.50%
Five charge-free withdrawals; sixth and later withdrawals incur a 50-day interest charge.
You want a higher variable rate and can realistically keep withdrawals to five or fewer each account year.
Closure can count as a withdrawal. With 5 Access Saver (5), the sixth and subsequent withdrawals include closure for the purpose of the current 50-day interest charge. Keep a simple count if you actively use the account.

Coventry Fixed Rate Savings Accounts

Coventry’s current fixed-rate saver range increases from 4.00% to 4.20% as the maturity date moves further out. The trade-off is strict access: after the 14-day cooling-off period, the current fixed savers do not allow normal withdrawals or account closure before maturity.

Fixed Rate Saver (26) 4.00% AER/gross fixed until 30 November 2027.
Fixed Rate Saver (27) 4.10% AER/gross fixed until 30 November 2028.
Fixed Rate Saver (28) 4.20% AER/gross fixed until 30 November 2029.
Balance range Current products show deposits from £1 up to £1,000,000.
Do not confuse maximum account balance with protected balance. A Coventry fixed saver may accept substantially more than the standard FSCS limit. The account’s £1 million maximum does not mean £1 million is protected by FSCS.

Coventry Building Society Cash ISA Rates for 2026/27

Coventry’s ISA range currently gives savers three noticeably different choices: unrestricted easy access, a higher-rate four-access ISA and fixed-rate ISAs. For the 2026/27 tax year, Coventry’s live pages use the standard £20,000 adult ISA subscription allowance.

ISA
Rate
Access
Key point
Easy Access ISA (12)
2.00%
Unlimited, charge free.
Flexible ISA. Useful when tax-free status and unrestricted access matter more than the highest rate.
4 Access ISA – 1 Year
4.25%
Four charge-free withdrawals.
Fifth and later withdrawals, including closure, currently incur 50 days’ interest on the amount withdrawn.
Fixed Rate ISA (339)
4.00%
Fixed to 31 December 2027.
No partial early withdrawal after cancellation period; early full closure carries the account’s specified interest charge.
Fixed Rate ISA (340)
4.10%
Fixed to 31 December 2028.
Current-year subscriptions and previous ISA transfers are accepted under the product rules.
Fixed Rate ISA (341)
4.20%
Fixed to 31 December 2029.
Current early full-closure charge is equivalent to 270 days’ interest.
Tax-free does not automatically mean higher return. Compare the net interest you expect to keep on an ordinary saver with the ISA rate, your available Personal Savings Allowance and your wider tax position. ISA benefits can also matter in future years even when you pay no tax on savings interest today.

Transferring an ISA to Coventry: Do Not Withdraw It Yourself

Coventry’s current fixed ISAs and several other ISA products accept transfers. If you want existing ISA money to remain inside the ISA system, request a formal ISA transfer rather than taking the money out into an ordinary bank account first.

Choose the Coventry ISA you want to receive the transfer.
Check that the exact issue accepts transfers.
Open the Coventry ISA or complete its transfer process.
Provide details of the existing ISA provider.
Let the providers complete the transfer through the ISA process.
Keep your transfer confirmation and check the amount received.
Common mistake: manually withdrawing an old ISA can remove that money from its protected ISA wrapper. A flexible ISA can have special replacement rules, but do not assume every Coventry or transferring-provider ISA is flexible.

Coventry Children’s Savings: Young Saver and Junior Cash ISA

Coventry’s children’s accounts solve different problems. Young Saver is designed to help a child learn to save and manage money, while a Junior Cash ISA locks the child’s tax-free savings away until age 18 under Junior ISA rules.

Young Saver

  • Current 4.00% AER variable.
  • Designed for ages 7–17.
  • Up to £200 can currently be paid in each month.
  • Easy access for the child.
  • Interest is currently paid monthly.

Junior Cash ISA (2)

  • Current 3.75% tax-free AER variable.
  • 2026/27 Junior ISA contribution limit shown as £9,000.
  • Money belongs to the child.
  • Normal withdrawals are not available before age 18.
  • Transfers to another Junior ISA provider are possible through the formal transfer process.

What AER, Gross and Tax-Free Mean on Coventry Savings

AER Annual Equivalent Rate shows what the interest rate would be if interest were paid and added to the account each year. It helps compare accounts with different interest-payment frequencies.
Gross p.a. The annual rate before any tax that may be due on savings interest.
Tax-free p.a. Used for ISA interest that is paid free of UK income tax within the ISA rules.
Variable Coventry can increase or decrease the rate in line with the account terms and notification requirements.
Fixed The rate stays unchanged until the published maturity date, provided the account remains open under its terms.
Monthly interest The monthly gross percentage can look slightly lower than the AER because AER reflects annual compounding assumptions.
Regular-saver comparison tip: you normally do not have the full year’s eventual balance earning the advertised rate from day one. Money is added gradually each month, so do not estimate regular-saver interest as if the maximum annual contributions were deposited on the first day.

Coventry Building Society FSCS Protection in 2026

Coventry currently states that eligible deposits held with the Society are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to £120,000 per eligible depositor, subject to FSCS rules.

Single eligible saver Up to £120,000 of eligible Coventry deposits under the current standard limit.
Joint account Each eligible account holder can have their own protection entitlement, subject to the scheme rules.
Several Coventry accounts The £120,000 standard limit applies to your combined eligible deposits with the same protected institution, not separately to each account.
Account permits £1 million The product maximum does not increase the normal FSCS protection limit.

Coventry and The Co-operative Bank: Why Savers Should Watch the 2027 FSCS Change

Coventry Building Society purchased The Co-operative Bank on 1 January 2025. In September 2026, however, Coventry says the two organisations are still operating under separate banking licences. That currently means eligible Coventry and Co-operative Bank deposits can each have their own standard £120,000 protection limit.

A further change is proposed. Coventry says it intends to transfer The Co-operative Bank’s business, including smile, into the Society on 1 January 2027, subject to Court approval. The Court hearing is currently scheduled for 2 December 2026.

This could matter if you have large deposits with both organisations. Coventry explicitly tells customers with Coventry and Co-operative Bank accounts to review the transfer information because their FSCS position may be affected if the transfer is approved. Do not assume today’s two-licence treatment will continue unchanged after the proposed transfer.

How to Open a Coventry Savings Account Without Missing a Condition

Coventry supports different application and management routes depending on the product. Some accounts can be opened online, in the app, by telephone, by post or in branch; others can have more specific channel restrictions.

  1. Start with Coventry’s live savings comparison page.
  2. Choose the account based on access, term and funding pattern before comparing rate.
  3. Open the exact product’s Summary Box.
  4. Check minimum age, UK residency requirements and deposit limits.
  5. Check whether a Named Bank Account is required for withdrawals.
  6. Read the cooling-off, withdrawal and closure conditions.
  7. For an ISA transfer, use the formal transfer route instead of withdrawing the old ISA yourself.
  8. Save the Summary Box and terms that applied when you opened the account.
Living abroad: Coventry’s current savings help says customers should tell the Society if they move abroad, and residence changes can affect whether an account can remain open. Tax-residency information may also be required.

Common Coventry Savings Mistakes

Choosing 5% without noticing the £150 cap Sunny Day Saver is a monthly regular saver, not a place to deposit a large lump sum at 5% immediately.
Using Easy Access Saver by default If you rarely withdraw, 5 Access Saver currently pays more and may fit better.
Opening a fixed saver with emergency money Current fixed savers do not allow normal early access after cooling off.
Moving an ISA manually Use the formal ISA transfer process when you want existing ISA money to stay within the tax-free wrapper.
Ignoring the issue number Old Coventry products can have similar names but very different rates and conditions.
Assuming £1 million is FSCS protected A product’s maximum operating balance is separate from the standard £120,000 protection limit.
Counting only today’s FSCS licences Customers with both Coventry and Co-operative Bank deposits should follow the proposed 2027 transfer carefully.
Leaving a maturity account unchecked A regular saver or fixed product can move to another account paying a different rate after maturity.
